At Florida State University’s College of Business, everything we do is personal. The Dr. William T. Hold/The Alliance's Program in Risk Management and Insurance uses its award-winning and highly respected faculty to prepare the next generation of insurance agents, underwriters, adjusters and risk managers to meet the growing demand for industry professionals.
We accomplish this through an ever-evolving curriculum, educational and professional development events, mentoring, and internal and external challenges and competitions. In order to provide students with valuable experience inside and outside of the classroom, we need financial support.
Programs Needing Your Support
Insurance Days
$1,000 to $10,000
Held each fall and spring semester, Insurance Days is the primary recruiting event for risk management and insurance students. A number of sponsorship opportunities are available including receptions, breakfasts, lunches and snack breaks.
Lunch and Learns ($500 for small sessions/$1,000 for larger sessions)
A company or organization can cover the cost of lunch for a small group of students (generally 10 to 20). Lunch and Learns focus on a current industry topic or niche area of the industry and are very interactive. This is a great opportunity to get to know students in a smaller and more interactive setting.
Social Events
$1,000 to $10,000
RMI is a relations business – and getting to know fellow students is an important part of the experience, especially as these individuals could be future co-workers or clients. Companies and organizations can host anything from a bowling night to a tailgate in order to foster stronger relationships among students.
Activities, Meetings and Networking Events ($1,000 to $25,000)
Each year, a number of activities are organized including educational sessions, workshops, seminars and networking events for the benefit of students and industry professionals. Sponsorship varies depending on the event. Examples of events include receptions at professional conferences, educational sessions and workshops on professional development.
Conferences and Industry Travel Grants
$1,250
Each year, the RMI program covers the cost for students and faculty members to attend conferences on a variety of topics. Travel grants have been used to send students and faculty members to a number of events including but not limited to: The Alliance Mega Conference, GIS International Conference, RIMS Annual Conference, PLRB Claims Conference, FL RIMS Conference, Ft. Lauderdale Mariners Club’s Marin Insurance Seminar, International Foundation of Employee Benefits Conference and Big I Conference.
Data Analytics Project Competition
$3,000
This competition allows students to apply the tools developed throughout the course to a real-world risk management and insurance topic. Event sponsors are invited to be a part of the judging process.
Fall and Spring Banquet Sponsors
$5,000
Scholarship recipients are recognized, along with other achievements and awards. This event is a wonderful opportunity to interact with students in a casual setting.
Speaker Series
$5,000
A speaker series sponsorship covers the costs of guest speakers and related activities during their visit. This can include luncheons and networking receptions with students.
Insurance Sales Challenge
$50,000 for entire event or some portion of this amount
FSU’s Insurance Sales Challenge offers students a unique opportunity to put their skills to the test while learning more about insurance sales from the industry professionals who serve as mentors and judges throughout the process.
